“Greece”, T. Whitehorn, Penryn, c.1840. Folio, rare private charitable publication. 17 unnumbered sheets. Engraved texts and plates, referring to ancient Greek history and main personalities of the ancient Greek world. At the front cover a lithographic reproduction from a sketch by E. Noel entitled “Athens, from Mount Lycabettus”, on rear cover a lithograph “The Temple of Theseus / from a drawing by P. Sambell”. A noted to the first sheet the profits arising from this work are intended “to aid in the erection of a new school room, to assist some village libraries…”.  Original paper lithographed covers, soiled and worn, the spine almost missing, still firm, interior with just light spotting.
