Medal (Copper, 44 mm, 46.10 g, 12 h), The Twelve Medals Series, commemorating the marriage of King Otho I of Greece, with Amalia of Oldenburg on 22 December 1836, Athens, struck from dies by K. Lange, plain edge. ΟΘΩΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΚΑΙ ΑΜΑΛΙΑ ΒΑΣΙΛΙΣΣΑ Jugate busts to right, of Amalia and Otho; below truncation, Κ.ΛΑΝΓΕ in tiny letters. Rev. EN ΔΕ ΕΙΡΗΝΗΙ ΚEΚΛΗΚΕΝ ΗΜΑΣ Ο ΘΕΟΣ (But God has called us to peace) Crowned mantle containing the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece and the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, flanking a helmeted head of Athena in the center; below, lion resting to right; below ΟΛΔΕΝΒ. ΤΗ 10 ΝΟΕΜΒ 1836 (date of marriage in the Julian calendar). Chase 416. Wurzbach-Tannenberg 7025. Meletopoulos, The Twelve Greek Medals, 1971, p. 87-91. Graded by NGC "MS 62 BN".
