This work contains 40 memoirs, all first published, including many travel accounts, such as Moritt’s for Mani, Sibthorp’s for Fokida, Biotia, Attica, Zakinthos and Thraki, Hunt’s accounts for Troad and Athos, Hawkins’s account for Tempi etc. Of particular interest are the accounts about Athens, including Haygarth’s panoramic view in 4 double page plates and Hawkins Topography of Athens with a detailed engraved map of Athens, just before the revolution with its contemporary road plan in detail.
