One of the first systematic efforts to describe the land of Israel, focusing on Palestine, South Syria and the areas around. Based on first hand information, the effort of this work was to bridge the biblical Israel with contemporary areas. It could be considered as one of the first steps towards the establishment of Israel, founded 100 years later.
