Carlo Botta was an Italian-born French historian and politician. From 1796 to 1798 he served as a physician in Napoleon’s campaigns in Italy and Corfu. During his stay in Corfu he had conducted the current work, first published in 1799. The work is divided into two parts: the first part dealing with the physical geography of the island with insights along Corfu’s climate, natural vegetation and agricultural products. The second part is a result of his service in Corfu’s military hospital, providing an analysis of most widespread diseases. Period half leather with marbled boards and decorations in gilt on spine.
