Contemporary binding, fine condition. After his studies in Halle University, Christoph Wilhelm Ludeke established in Smyrna (1759-1768) and later in Constantinople, up to 1772. He traveled around the Levant extensively. After his return in Germany, he wrote two books about the Ottoman Empire. In this one, describes the places, the nature and the society of the Levant, with particular accuracy. He focuses in Levantine multinational society, its political and military structure, economic resources and everyday life. Only 4 known copies in international institutions. Not in Atabey, Blackmer or any other collection. Extremely rare.
