Enrile, a Spanish officer and adventurer, has arrived in Greece as a volunteer during Greek revolution. He follows a site by site comparison approach of Ancient and Modern Greece, based on French accounts for the Ancient Greece part, and on his first hand information for the Modern Greece part. The “Grecia Nueva” part covers the whole peninsula including the newly formed “Reino de Grecia”. His long visit to Mount Athos in 1826 is described in a specific chapter of the 2nd Volume entitled “Description del Monte Athoz, Agion Oros” and including very detailed / first hand descriptions of all monasteries and area. Printed in Cadiz (Enrile’s hometown), an important port with commercial links with Hydra & Spetses, this work represents the strong interest on the re-born Greece of the 1830’s. Extremely Rare: only a copy in the municipal library of Cadiz, not any other public institution / library and Not in Atabey, Blackmer or any private collection.
