Arundell, a British chaplain in Smyrna, was among the first who travelled extensively in the unknown at that time interior of Asia Minor. Arundells aim was to discover the ancient cities of Lydia, Mysia and Phrygia. For this reason he extensively researched the countryside, providing extremely valuable reports of the antiquities and significant results on the place-name changes through time and topography of the area. Contemporary half leather, slightly rubbed at the corners, a very good large and clean copy. Very Rare. Atabey 37, Blackmer 49.
