Dentu, 1819. First and only edition. Complete in 2 volumes. 8vo, pp.473+533. Adrien Dupre was a member of the Gardane’s embassy of Napoleon to Persia. As the sea routes were blocked by the British, the French embassy followed uncommon tracks through central Anatolia to reach Armenia and Persia. Dupre gives precise accounts full with topographical details, declaring his surprise for the unfortunate state of these historic countries. Through his travels, the Europeans were able to discover the heart of Asia Minor, ruined after the centuries of Ottoman decline. Contemporary bidding different in each volume, rubbed. Light occasional spotting in 1st volume, but overall a very good set of an extremely rare work. Atabey 380, not in Blackmer. Extremely Rare.
