Otter Jean, "Voyage en Turquie et en Perse”, Paris, Guerin, 1748. First and only edition. 12mo. Complete in 2 volumes. Otter was sent to Persia in a commercial mission by the French government. The account present in details his travel from Constantinople through the interior of Asia Minor to Persia. A very early and precious travel through Anatolia, totally unknown at that time. Provenance: Bibliotheque du Chateau de Laplagne, with coat of arms of Laplagne Barris in both volumes. Chateau de Laplagne is located in Montesqiou and its important library was dispersed in auction in late 19th century (the manuscript lot reference from the auction for these books is attached). Most of the Laplagne’s books are located in Berkeley Library California. Contemporary full calf, lower part of leather spines missing, worm-hole in the first 30 pages of volume 2, but overall a very clean copy of a very rare work. Atabey 894, Blackmer 1229.
