Atlas of 19 MANUSCRIPT maps, no place or date, but France c.1835/1845. Small oblong Folio, 30x24cm. No text, only 19 manuscript maps of ~22x17cm each, in ink and washed colours, on contemporary papers, inserted in lithographed frames with lithographed titles. Inscription in back of front cover: "Amiens 1848". The maps cover all European countries including the independent Greece (separately) and the five continents (including 2 maps for America and 1 very early map of Oceania). The quality of mapping varies. Most maps, especially western European countries & Russia are very precise following accurately the administrative borders. The map of Greece is also nicely drawn for that scale. Based on the countries borders it could be suggested that the maps were drawn most probably from late 1830s to mid 1840s. The special pages with the lithographed frames were certainly printed on order, to house the manuscript maps. Atlas decoration and initials in gilt on front cover. Contemporary full calf, rubbed with initials in gilt. All maps clean and fine.
