[Pablo Alabern I Moles], "Turquia Europea y Grecia",Barcelona c.1825. Probably the first map of Greece in Catalan language. Copper engraved 45x36cm. Waterstain in the left part, but overall a good copy of a very rare map. From the very first Atlas published in Catalan language in Barcelona, the "Atlas Geografico Universal by Alabern". The Catalan cartographers & brothers Pablo and Ramon Alabern, started their project in the early 1820s and spent several years to draw and engrave the 42 maps of the Catalan language Atlas. The text was written by Domingo Estruch y Jordan. The maps were issued separately, after subscriptions, and assembled in very few Atlases later. The map of Greece and the Balkans had been drawn around 1825, Greece is clearly mentioned in the title, but had not borders still assigned. This early copper engraved edition of Barcelona Atlas is Extremely Rare. Only two complete copies exist in public Libraries worldwide.
