Splendid copper engraved map of Acropolis of Athens, 56x37cm. Fine condition. San Felipe was a Venetian engineer and the commander of the artillery that bombarded Parthenon. After the occupation of Acropolis he had drawn the first accurate manuscript map of the city, sent to Venice, to provide a general image of the famous place to the Venetian authorities (Chatziaslani, Morosini in Athens, 2010). The Acropolis map, 42x27cm, had been issued as proof and had been finally completed with the addition of a special garland. It has been published only in the Extremely Rare work of Coronelli, "Teatro de la Citta". First accurate map of Acropolis of Athens, in its most rare decorated edition. Not in Zacharakis.
