The complete the text, without the separately printed Atlas. Original publisher’s paper-cover (missing the back cover). Vandervelden travelled in the Black sea for years, in the late 1840s. He was Captain of an Austrian Lloyds steamer assigned for the inter-Black Sea ports communication. His descriptions of all the Black sea ports and cities are very detailed and accurate. From Sevastopol to Trebizond and from Varna to Sinope, he provides vivid descriptions of the Black sea in the middle of 19th century. Very Rare.
