Malerische, “Reise in Constantinopel”, Lepzig, 1820 [BOUND TOGETHER] Malerische, “Reise in Griechenland”, Leipzig, 1820. Both First editions. Later leather over boards. Complete the two travel accounts. In 8vo (17x11cm), pp. 200 + 11 copper engravings (some double page) & pp. 232 + 17 copper engravings (some double page). These independent works cover the travels in Greece & Turkey, as a part of a wider collection of travel accounts (including Italy, Egypt etc). All travel accounts are separate printed for each country and decorated by fine copper engravings depicting scarce views of people and ceremonies of the Levant. The engravings are based in contemporary paintings by the best Orientalist painters of the early 19th century and are precious and very rare, as several of the original paintings did not survived up today. Very rare.
