Pp.374, with engraved frontispiece. Contemporary binding, a very good and clean copy. In this travel, Spencer explored the seashore of the Black Sea, first reaching the Georgian lands of Imeretia and Mingrelia and after crossing to the Turkish territory. He visited and described in details Pontos and Anatolia. Crossing to Europe, he continued in Bulgaria and Moldavia. Spencer’s accounts, written in the 1830s, are among the first systematic descriptions of these lands.
