Two works in one volume. 8vo (21x12cm), pp.118+218. Both works complete. Contemporary binding, richly decorated spine. Light staining, very good condition. Ingigian (1758-1843) was an Armenian from Constantinople who wrote this precise account on the villages and topography of the Bosporus. The work was firstly published in Armenian in Venice 1794. It was highly praised, as a rare travel description written by a local and was later translated in French and German (Atabey 605, Not in Blackmer). Klaproth was a German explorer and academic, among the very first that travelled in Caucasus. This work presents his travel account of Eastern Caucasus, an isolated & unknown region for Europeans. Klaproth visited the place before Russian annexation and provides valuable information. VERY RARE
