Gerhart H., "Γεωργιος Α, Βασιλευς των Ελληνων, Georg I, Konig der Griechen", Wien, 1863. One of the first lithographic portraits of George I as King of the Greeks. This lithograph, by an unknown artist, has been published in a big Folio edition including portraits of all European kings, published by Gerhart, in Vienna, in September 1863. Title is written in Greek and German. Georges received the title "King of the Greeks" (and not King of Greece, like the Otto) in Athens in March 1863. This title, referring to all Greeks including those under Ottoman rule has caused strong reactions by the Ottomans and the finally changed to "King Of Hellenes" shortly after. One small tear at the lower margin, restored, spot on the titles word "griechen", otherwise a fine copy of a very rare work.
