The consul of France in Smyrna sent a reclamation to Psara but the Psariotes sent back the ship in Chios with a letter to the Pasha asking 3000 piastres in order to release a Muslim captured by the Greeks. The Austrian consul interceded and the Muslim was finally freed describing his adventure. He was alone in a Turkish ship from Crete in the port of Tshesme. During that night, two Psariot ships entered the port and tried to capture the ship, with the Turk finally surrendering. The Greek ships with the captured Turkish ship escaped from Tshesme. The Turks thanked the Austrian consul for his help. The Turks in Chios prepared the castle with ammo and provisions because they were afraid that the Greeks would re-attack the island this year.
