Contemporary full calf leather rubbed, engraved frontis, title in red and black, pp.[4],258p.[6] and 4 copper engraved plates. Light browning but overall very good. Jan Struys (1628-1694), a Dutch explorer travelled extensively in the Levant, in Russia, in Persia and the Far East. His famous travels had been published first in Dutch in 1676 and later republished in many languages. In his second travel, he joined the Venetian army in the Levant, during the Cretan war and visited several Aegean islands such as Crete, Mitilini, Tinos, Patmos, Tenedos and the Ionian islands.The original drawings for the engravings had been prepared by him.
