Bjornstahl J., “Briefe auf seinen auslandischen Reisen an den Koniglichen Bibliothkar C.Gjorwell in Stockholm…, Der morgenlandischen, Briefe aus Konstantinopel”, Leipzig, 1779. First edition in German (the full original Swedish edition will be published later). 8vo, 17x10cm. Contemporary fine paperboards, slightly faded, inside fine. Complete the full account for Greece and the Levant: title, pp. [14],104. Overall very good. Jakob Jonas Bjornstahl (1731-1779) was a Swedish orientalist, Greek philologist and manuscript collector. He travelled extensively around Europe. Seeking for ancient manuscripts, he travelled, with other Swedish, three times in the Levant, visiting Macedonia, Thessaly, Thrace and Constantinople. His narrative is precious. He had finally perished in Thessaloniki in July 1779 during his last trip to Greece. EXTREMELY RARE. Not in Atabey or Blackmer.
