Chateaubriand F., “Itineraire de Paris a Jerusalem et de Jerusalem a Paris, en allant par la Grece et en revenant par l’Egypte, la Barbarie…”, Paris, 1811. Second edition (same year with the first). 8vo, 20x13cm. Complete in three volumes. Half titles, titles, pp.[110],277,413,370, folding facsimile in Arabic. Contemporary leather over boards, slightly rubbed, interior clean, a very good copy. Chateaubriand combined his experiences of travel in the Morea and Attica in 1806-7 with invented stories, weaving a strong philhellenism trend and promoting the French enthusiasm for Greece. The success of his travel account paved the way for several publications. The earlier editions are scarce. Atabey 225 (forth edition), Blackmer 328 (third edition).
