Latour A., “Viage a Tunez, Egipto, Turquia y Grecia”, Sevilla, 1849. Spanish edition. Complete. 8vo, 23x16cm, pp. [6] 264. Large uncut copy. Contemporary leather gilt over boards, head of spine chipped, inside clean, edges of pages gilted. Contemporary inscription, in the front free paper, of the consul of France in Mexico city, dated August 1867 (and signed) that the book belonged to the library of the just executed Emperor of Mexico Maximilian and he gave it to the consul, in his urgent departure from the Imperial residence. A very good copy with a fine Imperial Library provenance. Latour travelled in the Levant in 1843-44. Most of the book covers his travel account to many Greek areas and the Constantinople. Athens and Morea thoroughly described, as he stayed there several months and travelled around. RARE. Not in Atabey or Blackmer.
