Wyse Th., “Impressions of Greece”, London, 1871. First edition. Large 8vo 23x15cm. Contemporary fine decorated burgundy cloth, inside clean, small mark on spine, otherwise an attractive fine copy. Complete, [6] 332p.[16]. Thomas Wyse was the British ambassador in Greece for several years, since 1849 to 1857. The introduction had been written by his niece who discovered, among his uncle papers, this travel of her uncle in Central Greece. The book is a detailed, in a calendar basis, travel account in Central Greece in 1851. A very detailed journey in Roumeli, which by then was still little visited by travelers who preferred Athens, Morea and the islands. Not in Atabey or Blackmer.
