Briot gives a fascinating account of the Ottoman state and administration, mostly based in Rycault. Gaultier de Leslie travelled in Constantinople in 1665 with the imperial embassy to the Sultan. It is a lengthy narrative of more than 150 pages. He describes in detail the crossing of the Balkans and Thrace and the arrival of the embassy in Constantinople. The description of the city, its inhabitants, the institutions and trade of the Ottoman Empire is among the best of 17th century. Colier, finally travelled in Constantinople for the account of the Dutch state. His report, initially written in Dutch, contains precious and unique information for the Levant, as well as another journal of travel, of the then Dutch Consul in Smyrna, a travel account from Smyrna to Silimbria in Thrace and after in Andrinople. Unique accounts for the Levant. Not in Atabey or Blackmer. Very rare.
