STEPHANOPOLI DIMO AND NICOLO, “Voyage de Dimo et Nicolo Stephanopoli en Grèce”, Paris: lImprimerie de Guilleminet, An VIII [1800]. First edition. Complete in 2 volumes. 8vo, pp.xvi, 303 +319. Complete including 8 plates in total (2 folding). Each volume with different binding: Volume 1 in full leather with heavy external wear, Volume 2 with leather spine and paper covers, rubbed. Interior in both volumes in very good condition with occasional only light spotting.  Volume 1 with shorter white margins and final size. Dimo Stephanopoli (1749-1821) was a Corsican cavalry officer, botanist and naturalist, descended from Mani. He was also descended from the last Greek emperor of the Trebizond Empire. Along with his nephew Nicolo, he visited Epirus and Mani collecting information on the inhabitants political inclinations, on behalf of Bonaparte. Their observations are of great importance, focusing on Mani before the Revolution. Blackmer 1606.
