DUFRENOY Adélaïde, “Beautés de l’histoire de la Grèce modern”, Paris, Alexis Eymery, 1825. First Edition.  2 Volumes. 8vo, pp.xliv, 480 (of 488) + 520. Including 2 frontispieces and 10 full-page copper engravings. Missing a folding map and 7 last pages of Volume 1. Adélaïde-Gillette Dufrénoy (1765–1825) was a French poet and a staunch supporter of Napoleon Bonaparte. Printed during the Greek War of Independence, this work is within the frame of philhellenism, praising the role of French in the Greek issue. Written in a form of short articles, it provides an overview of Greece, dealing with various subjects from the Greek history, life and topography. Thick paper marbled boards, external wear, interior in very fine condition.
