IMPRESSIVE WALL MAP of almost three meters by two meters in in total. In 20 independent sheets as issued, 16 sheets of approx.  60x43cm and 4 sheets of approx. 30x43cm, all plus margins. In the extremely rare state of loose sheets as issued, all sheets with their full margins. Some damp staining in the margins of several sheets, in few sheets more evident, but mostly in the margins out of printed area, slightly entering in engraved area in only two sheets. The first map of Greece after a full-scale triangulation, resulting in the first really accurate map of Greek lands. It took a decade to the French military officers/cartographers to improve the Expedition of Morea map and to cover the whole Greece of that time. The total print run was 200 copies and the map has appeared rarely in the last decades (Sothebys lot 134/sale 13-11-2008) and always dissected and backed on linen. It is the very first-time that appears in the much more valuable state of independent sheets as issued with the whole map untouched. Extremely Rare and a reference for the cartography of Greece.
