Like the Blackmer copy, although in the original publishers binding, includes one frontispiece of Vol.1, lacking a frontispiece to volume 2. Sotirios Sotiropoulos was a Greek economist and politician who briefly served as Prime Minister of Greece. Ιn 1866, Sotiropoulos was kidnapped and held by brigands for 36 days before he was ransomed for 60,000 drachmas. He recounted his time with the brigands in his book Τριάκοντα εξ ημερών αιχμαλωσία και διαβίωσις μετά των ληστών” translated into English in current edition. In preface it is noted that “The narrative of Mr. S. Soterópoulos is the only authentic description of life among the brigands of Greece which has yet been published... [It] contains matter of the greatest importance to politicians, and those who advocate the restoration of depressed nationalities" Covers detached, spine partly detached.
