Moncada Francisco :”Expedicion de los Catalanes y Aragoneses contra Turcos y Griegos” (1303-1311).Madrid 1805.Third edition. In 8vo 18x12cm.Contemporary Spanish blinded leather over boards, internally clean,384p.,complete,a very good copy. Montaner 14th century manuscript travel account compiled by Moncana later,is a primordial source for events in Greece and Asia Minor in early 14th century and provides fine topographical, economic, ethnological and historical first hand information. The Catalane Company,  a mercenary army had been hired by the Byzantines to fight the Turks in Asia Minor. After their initial successes, they had requested their payment, but the Byzantines were short of money and they had executed their leaders. The Spanish mercenary army rebelled, pillaged Thrace and Macedonia and finally, after 6 years of wandering around Greece, they arrived in South Greece, crashed the local French knights at Orhomenos (1311) and the Aragonese have established a realm in  Athens up to the late 14th century. Their continuing travelling around Greece those years has been meticulous recorded in the famous manuscript travel account . Rare
