Peter Jan Van der Linden travelled to the Levant in March 1633,he crossed the Mediterranean from Marseille and after brief stops in the usual Greek ports arrived in Larnaca ,in Cyprus, where he stayed for one month .He provides a detailed description of the island of Cyprus in early 17th century, in a special chapter of the book titled :Hoe wy te schepe gingen nae het Eyland Cypres. He continued to Holy Land to visit the usual places, shrines and cities. Of particular importance is the description of the several Christian nations of the Levant, including Greeks, Armenians, Syrians, Georgians, Maronites etc .In his return ,from Sidon revisited Cyprus, stayed again some time,had visited Nicosia and other places, so 8 more pages of the book deals with Cyprus. Van der Linden s account on Cyprus are very valuable, as they cover the first period of Ottoman rule in the island. The account has been fully published only twice, both editions are Extremely Rare, . Not in Atabey, Blackmer or any other known collection.
