First and only edition. Two volumes in 12o 15x9cm,[23] 597p. [1], 599p.-1371p.[18].complete ,contemporary full vellum for both volumes but not the same vellum, with engraved title with a fine miniature view of Constantinople, very good condition. Christopher Besold (1577-1638) was a German Protestant writer who accomplished one of the earlier comprehensive accounts for the Levant .He presents in his detailed account the historical evolution of the East after the 9th century and up to his own time. First volume cover the Byzantine rule up to the 15th century .Second volume deals with the fall of the Christian East and the rise of the Ottomans up to the early 17th century. He describes in details  the structure of Levant society of his time and its historical multinational evolution ,including social, military, administrative and military events.
