Coronelli Description of the Morea and of some other places in Greece first had been published in 1686 to celebrate the conquest of the Peloponnesus and other places in Greece by the Venetians. It had immediate success .According his own writings, Coronelli decided ,in early 1687, to issue in Paris, a luxury edition in Folio , to raise funds for the financing of the construction of his Globes. Only 250 copies have been printed, according his own testimony and subscriptions were opened for orders .New Folio double page beautiful copper engraved plates have been prepared, but the smaller format ,already existent, had been also used. As of all Coronelli s works, in these 250 copies were added a combination of several copper engraved plates, according each individual order ,so each of the survived copies contain almost always different number of plates, from 19 plates up to 76,depending the financial ability and the choice of each buyer.
