First and only edition of one of the first guides for the monuments of Athens published just after the independence. In small 8vo 16x12cm,contemporary leather over boards, very light scattered spotting, complete 61p. and seventy two (72)  plates, some folding, overall  in very good condition. It is evident that this edition with 72 (!!!) plates of Greek monuments, mostly of Athens and few of Dilos and Korinthos, had been prepared, as the title also suggests, to be portable. In early 1830 the flux of early travelers to Athens had restarted and they were unable to carry on the fine works of Stuart and other earlier travelers on the antiquities of Athens and other important Greek places. All these early guides are very rare.
