First edition, in Folio 35,5x26cm,fine contemporary publishers blinded and decorated hardcovers, complete 108p.,and 31 folio lithographed plates of views of the Levant, some light scattered spotting, overall in very good condition.

The Austrian Loyds started to serve the Levant ports with steamboats as early as the late 1830s.By the 1860s the service had been upgraded and several nice publications of Levantine interest had been published to promote the trips to the Levant. They were finely illustrated with unique lithographed views after designs by famous contemporary painters. Each  publication provided information and views for some specific area.
