MOM Mometta II Camera (Leica Copy) rangefinder camera, made in Hungary, c.1960. Lens YMMAR 1:3.5 f= 50 mm, MOM No 15054, very rare camera. The Mometta is a 35mm rangefinder camera made by MOM (Magyar Optikai Művek/Hungarian Optical Works) in Budapest. It is sometimes qualified as a Leica copy, even if its appearance is very different. It has a focal plane shutter from 1/25 to 1/500s, and takes pictures in 24×32mm format. The camera works with 35 mm film, which makes it useable even today. The leather case has a pocket for a plastic card, which served as a notepad (or slate) to write down details of photographs taken. This feature was not uncommon with cameras of this era. Good aesthetic and functional condition.
