Edition of Homer’s Iliad, Odyssey as well as Batrachomyomachia (Βατραχομυομαχία) translated in Latin from original Greek, with prefaces and commentaries by Ioannis Spondani (Jean de Sponde). The first printed edition of Homers works appeared in Florence in 1488, by Demetrios Chalondyles. The famous Aldine edition soon followed in 1504. The current 1583 edition is the first edition of Homer to contain commentary.
