Contains 18 sheets of maps presenting the transformations and ethnological consistence of the Balkans from all the different points of view and from the Byzantine Era until the WWI. A collection of historical and ethnological maps, produced from the mid 19th century, that affected the understanding of the ethnological blended world of the Balkans, and used as influential propaganda tools, shaping the national identity and boundaries of the Balkan sates at the beginning of the 20th century. Includes maps of Freeman, Zlatarski, Ami Boue, Lejean, Mackenzie & Irby, Kiepert, Synvet, Cvijic. Original soft paper covers creased & teared. Rare.
