Printed one year before the coronation of King Otto, this work attempts an overview of Greece based on the works of the various travelers that visited the place from the 16th century until the early 19th century. Although depending on previous works, this compilation is creating a thick account approaching Greece place by place and providing descriptions and historical information. Heinrich Joachim Jaeck was a German librarian and historian. He had published more than 200 works of various scientific interests, affecting the contemporary German society. The current work is following the interest of the European public on the emerging state of Greece, printed at the end of the Greek War of Independence and one year before the coronation of King Otto.
