Ernst Munch was a Swiss historian, librarian and university professor of Freiburg University. In this work, he presents all the facts, political and military incidents and personalities that took active part to the Greek Revolution. Although he has never visited Greece, he had an actual and clear view of the events, while he had personal contact with prominent personalities of the Revolution that were acting from outside Greece. Many important information - present nowhere else - are included, such the one in page 216 where Munch notes his meeting with Rigas Feraios (Ρήγας Φεραίος), noting that he received from Rigas his monumental 12-sheet map of Greece (Χάρτα του Ρήγα). Contemporary uniform binding: half leather, spine with decorations in gilt and title in gilt on red leather strip. Slightly worn along extremities and joints. Light spotting inside throughout. Library cachets of “Bibliothek Thun” and withdrawn library labels “Universitatsbibliothek Bern Ausgeschieden” in all 3 volumes. VERY RARE, very few pieces tracked in auction the last decades.
