The “Cosmographie Universelle” of F. de Belleforest was published in a shared edition by Nicolas Chesneau and Michel Sonnius, following the success of Munsters Cosmography. The edition contained the text of Munsters Cosmography translated into French by Belleforest and maps copied from various sources including Camocio, Ortelius and Braun & Hogenberg. The current map of Rhodes island is based on Camocios map, first published in 1566. Belleforests “Cosmographie” was published only once in 1575.
