This work, that achieved an amazing success in Europe, gives full expression to Pouquevilles philhellenic sentiments, which developed during the ten years he spent as French consul at Ioannina with Ali Pasha. Volumes II-IV are half leather bound in brown, with gild decoration and titles on spine, mainly rubbed along joints and extremities; green carton boards, medium worn. Volume I comes with industrial binding (red morocco leather spine and title in gilt), along with red fabric boards, near fine. Occasional spotting at first and last pages in all volumes, marbled endpapers and page edges. Very Good copy.
