“Der Peloponnes. Landschaft – Geschichte - Kunststatten”, Athen, 1944.

First and only edition. Large 8vo, pp. 279, with full-page plates and 9 folding maps at the end.

A very particular travel book, an introduction to the Peloponnese for the use of the German soldiers during the 2nd World War. During the German occupation of Greece, General der Flieger, commander of the German forces in South Greece, ordered the publication of an account of the occupied area, a kind of travel guide for the occupation forces, covering several aspects such as archaeology, history and also contemporary infrastructures, networks & economy. The result is a detailed account of contemporary Peloponnese, printed less than one year before the end of the German rule in Greece.

Contemporary binding keeping the original covers. Light covers soiling otherwise a fine copy.
