Jean Crespin, 1629. In 16mo, [32] + 410 + [20] + 159 + 1blank + 269 [= 267] + [5] p.  A fine early collection of many Ancient Greek works including Hesiod (Ησιόδου Έργα και Ημέραι, Ασπίς Ηρακλέους, Θεογονία, in total 128p, in Greek text with Latin translation in parallel columns), Theocrit (Θεοκρίτου Συρακουσίου Ειδύλλια και Επιγράμματα τα σωζόμενα, p. 129-239), Simias (Σιμμίου Ροδίου Ωον Πτερύγιον Πέλεκυς / Simmiae Rhodii Ovvum alae Securis, no place or date but Crispin edition with his commentary in Latin, p. 243-280), Moschos and Vion (Ειδύλλια Μόσχου Συρακουσίου και Βίωνος Σμυρναίου,  p. 281-357), and others ancient Greek gnomographers & poets. A unique 16th Century collection of rare works published by the famous Hellenist Jean Crespin.

Title in an elaborate woodcut typographic frame with anthropomorphic representations and anthems, numerous woodcut headpieces and initial letters. Greek text and Latin translation on opposite pages. Flexible brown leather, wonderfully pressed roulette with anthems around the covers and in the gaps of the back.
