DELHUMEAU René, “Salonique: Souvenirs et impressions. 40 dessins”. Rochefort, Benoit F., c. 1917. 4to, 15 loose sheets. René Delhumeau was a French painter that served in Thessaloniki & the Armée dOrient. 15 loose sheets (as issued) presenting 40 designs of Thessaloniki during the WWI and before the Great Fire of August 1917. The designs are printed in various colours and present unique street views, views of monuments, portraits of the people and everyday life in the town that hosted the allied troops of the Armee d’Orient during the WWI. The current work is dedicated to "à tous ceux de lArmée dOrient". It seems to be signed by the author on free end-paper and numbered “51/100”. Three line preface text by Jean-José Frappa, that served with the French army in the Salonica front and published his impressions in the ‘20s. The copy is Very Rare, as just one copy tracked in Harvard Library. Original illustrated paper covers. Sheets perforated on upper part. Printed on watermarked paper “Original Renage’s Mill”.
