The text volume includes the results of the first thorough archaeological excavation of the Temple of Aphaia in Aegina (Ναός της Αφαίας) and analysis of the earlier excavations of 1811, conducted by the Bavarian archaeologists Adolf Furtwangler, Ernest R. Fiechter & Herman Thiersch in 1901, including 410 figures, 6 plates (3 folding; 1 in color), 1 double-page map. The study is considered revolutionary in character giving the book a foremost place among the archaeological works of the 20th century. The architectural study of the temple and other buildings is carried out very thoroughly by Dr. Fiechter. The second Volume includes 130 plates (20 folding, 5 in color) of archaeological plans, sketches, artefact and architectural depictions and photographs. Overally in Fine condition. The text volume has been rebound. Occasional only light marginal tears and chipping to the corners of the plates or reinforcing at joints of folding plates, minimal scattered soiling.
