The 25th sheet of the monumental “Carte générale du Théâtre de la Guerre en Italie et dans les Alpes”, printed in Milan in 1798 and prepared by the French artist, map-maker and Napoleon’s closest strategic advisor, Baron Bacler Dalbe. It presents the French lands in Greece (Ionian Islands and Epirus) just after the Treaty of Campo Formio (October 1797), the defeat of the Austrians, the fall of the Republic of Venice and the withdrawal of the Venetians from Ionian islands, ending the long lasting Venetian possessions in the area. The map also indicates the new administrative division of the Ionian Islands, issued by Napoleon in November 7 1797, dividing the area in three departments “Dep. De Corcyre”, “Dep.
