Discusses the history of the world prior to the rise of Greek powers, accounts from the Trojan War, Athenian civilizations, hostilities between Greece and Asia Minor, commerce of early Greeks, scientific discoveries, and astronomy and physics. Mitford also gives accounts of the first Olympic Games, Greek influence on eastern nations, and political powers of Greek government. Bound in three-quarter green Morocco, five raised bands, marbled covers and endpapers. Some light wear to edges and rubbing to extremities, spines slightly sunned. Internally, usual age-related browning/spotting and/or toning, more so to the first volume; in very nice shape, very clean and sharp, with tight bindings and clean pages. A Very Good set overall.
