Commemorative medal in bronze or unknown allow of metal for the participation of the Byzantine Emperor John VIII Palaiologos at the Council of Ferrara (1438-1439). Portrait of the Emperor with the inscription "ΙΩΑΝΝΗC ΒΑCΙΛΕΥC ΚΑΙ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ ΡΩΜΑΙΩΝ Ο ΠΑΛΑΙΟΛΟΓΟC" on obverse. The emperor on horseback with the inscription "OPVS PISANI PICTO RIS" on reverse. Manufactured by Antonio de Pucci (Pisanello). Diameter: 100mm. Weight: 318,7gr. Fine.
