Containing 25 photographic prints of the famous Danish photographer Sophus Juncker-Jensen, dim. ~16x10cm each, all blind-stamped with photographer’s cachet “Juncker Jensen” on lower right margin. All photographs with printed descriptive captions on lower margin and pasted on green cartons, loosely inserted in a the album. Depicting members of the Danish Olympic team from their departure from and during their stay in Athens in 1906. More specifically the photographs depict the team in Athens street views and Acropolis (12), photos of the Danish team during their trip to Greece (5), the Danish team in Athens, Zappeion & Corfu (3), the Greek national hymn, the Panathenaic Stadium (Παναθηναϊκό Στάδιο) during the Olympic Games (2), portraits of Greeks in Marathon & a rare photograph of a restaurant at Phaleron. The photographs are accompanied by 49 loose sheets with extensive descriptive text along the photographed themes. These paper sheets may originally inserted between the photographs. Album front cover lightly soiled and rubbed, back cover with extensive signs of wear. The descriptive text sheets with chipped extremities, the photographs overall in very fine condition except one photo that bears signs of water-stain. Very rare album.
